I LOVE THE SKULL GIRLS ART STYLE
I've followed the lead artist for years and have always been a huge fan of it. I noticed that i find myself being drawn more towards more simple art styles. So I figured why not draw one of the characters!?
Had a lot of mixed feelings when making this one. Well into coloring it I just felt that it didn't look right. I was missing something of the style and just felt pretty bad as I slowly finished it off. I took a moment to really look at it and noticed the proportions were all off. It's a strange mix of skull girls and more realistic proportions. and the face just looked bad. I think I was able to salvage some of the face but in the end ehhh.. I think the piece turned out ok. I'm just glad I did something. I'm also thinking that maybe the resolution that I draw on might be a bit to low. I'm not the best with the technical aspect of drawing, but I think that is something that I will need to work out at some time.
Anyway, here's the line work:
And the original sketch:
After I completed the piece, I took a moment to try a new sketch to "fix" the proportions and to really capture that style a bit better than completely missing the mark.
I think it turned out so much better than before!! And all it took was an extra few moments to sort out the sketch. To be fair though, style was probably the last thing on my mind when I was doing the original sketch so i cant be to hard on myself. But hey. Ya live and learn!
